Diew Sor Isan – The North East Thai Violin Of Thonghuad Faited

LP (Item 606138) EM (Japan), 1970s — Condition: New Copy

Lilting, melodic and exotic violin sounds from Thai violinist Thonghuad Faited! Faited plays the sor –the traditional two-string instrument that's at the heart of Isan musical culture – with some great solo passages that aren't too far removed from string music in other global regions – and there's even some movements that remind us of Celtic and American folk music, but those build into distinctly Thai soundscapes as percussion and other instruments blend into one! As with other titles reissued by the EM Records label, there's a great sense of thoughtfulness that went into this whole project – and titles include "Diew Sor", "Diew Sor Kid Hod Baan", "Lam Plearn Isan Samakkee", "Lam Tud", "Hae Klongyao", "Ruammit", and "Waen Wiset (BaanLeng)".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
