LP, Vinyl record album

Bold, righteous grooves from Roberto Roena – grooving wonderfully with his classic Apollo Sound combo, with a sound that was easily one of the sharpest on the New York Latin scene of the 70s! The group features piano by Ray Coen, and some nice tenor and flute work from Freddie Miranda – whose reed touches add a nice degree of soul to the record, and offset the vocals of Piro Mantill and Frankie Calderon. Arrangements are by Coen, Elias Lopes, and Mario Ortiz – and overall the album's a crackler that's remained one of the best in Roena's classic catalog. Titles include "Hagan Silencio", "Se Pone Bueno", "El Traqueteo", "Yo Soy Chambelon", and "Soy El Terror". (Multi-color label mono pressing. Cover has some wear, some seam splitting, a promo stamp, and some pen on the back.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

ABC, 1959. Very Good
One of the grooviest early albums recorded by Candido – done way before his later funky sides, and served up with plenty of unusual touches that set it apart from the usual 50s Latin set! Mercury, Mid 60s. Sealed
One of THE killers of the Latin soul years – and a record that sometimes doesn't always get its due because it was issued on Mercury, not one of the New York indies!
