The artists are mostly local talents, added on occasion by American ex-pats working overseas – and the sounds are as fresh and dynamic as some of the better-known work coming out of the Saba/MPS scene of the later 60s – a real genre-defying approach to jazz that's always fresh, modern, and filled with energy – specially selected here by the Ricky Tick crew with an ear for tracks that have an upbeat, modal jazz sort of groove! This one's even better than volume one, in that it features even more obscure work – and like that great set, this one comes with full notes on the music.
