George Clinton's Greatest Hits

CD (Item 525188) Capitol, Early 80s — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

CD

4.70 11

After issuing a strangely silly remix project of George Clinton's Capitol work from the early 80s, the folks at EMI have finally corrected their mistake by putting together this straight set of Clinton's jammers for the label – all offered in their original versions! The set's not prime P-Funk to be sure, but there's plenty of nice moments, and this stuff sounds a lot better to us now than it did at the time, when we were expecting another version of Cosmic Slop to come out – and weren't smart enough to respect Clinton's clever shift into 80s groove material! Includes classics like "Do Fries Go With That Shake?", "Atomic Dog", "Nubian Nut", "Double Oh-Oh", and "Loopzilla" (presented here in a "broadcast version".) 12 tracks in all.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Intuition
Capitol, 1988. Used
A great late 80s comeback for Angela Bofill – and the kind of record that shows that she was still head and shoulders above most of her contemporaries! There's a richness here that most of Angie's contemporaries couldn't muster at the time – a style that stretches back to her deeper ... CD

Capitol, 1983. Used
The beautiful full scale duets set from Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack – a record that's no doubt defined by its biggest hit – but the rest is just as great! Born To Love kicks off with "Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You" – a song that's doubtlessly one of the most ... CD

So Intense
Elektra, 1991. Used
Nothing super-intense, but a great solo moment from Lisa Fischer – a vocalist who'd previously worked with Luther Vandross and The Rolling Stones, and who steps out on her own in this classic early 90s set! The music's got a bouncy approach to soul that reflects Lisa's professional roots ... CD

2 lesser known albums by The Spinners – the first arranged by Thom Bell, the group's big supportive talent from the early days, the later arranged by Michael Zager, who's reaching a bit to try to give the group a more modern soul sound. Neither record is one of the group's finest – but ... CD
