Behind The Mask
CD (Item 598149) Expansion (UK), 1982 — Condition: New Copy
A great early 80s set from Bluey & the Incognito crew – conceived as the follow up to their benchmark Jazzfunk LP – but this tighter, more fusion inspired set ultimately moved into a sound that was just divergent enough of the established Incognito style that they issued it as The Warriors! It's got plenty of jazzy funk and soul flowing throughout, so the approach isn't radically different – lots of dancefloor ready fusiony grooves with some really great solos from an incredible group of Brit musicians. The heavy bass groove of Paul "Tubbs" Williams is integral, with guitar and vocals by Bluey and piano & synth by Pete Hinds – and those 3 co-produced the album – with drums by Jeff Dunn, guitars by Ronnie Mason, keys by Mattie Collins, horns by Guy Barker and Chris Hunter, percussion by Simon Morthon and a sweet backup vocals from the trio of Tessa Webb, Sharon Campell and Jackie Benar. Includes "Hot Apple", "The Warrior", "Midnight Oil", 'Bustin' Loose", "Warrior's Theme", "Destination", "Je Ne Sais Quoi", "Drive" and "Unsung Heroes". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
