CD (Item 613299) CAM (Italy), 1978 — Condition: Used

One of those wonderful Ennio Morricone moments where a little does a lot – where mellow moves us the most – and where simple, spare sounds can have a tremendous amount of power! The film's a creepy one (a young girl lets a hunted killer into her family's house, who then makes love to her, and is killed by her, as is her mother!) – but Morricone's soundtrack has a great way of mixing the optimistic with the offbeat – using these elegant little piano lines over gently lilting strings, and bringing in some occasional voice from Edda Dell'Orso, but used in ways that are even more spare than usual! The result is a set of variations on the film's main melody – swelling, dipping, and turning in ways that change up nicely, but without ever losing the core energy of the theme. Completely beautiful – and with titles that include "Perche", "E Domani", "Perche Simona", "La Voliera", "Il Giardino", and "La Villa". (Out of print.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
