Trinidadian calypso instrumentals from the 50s by tenor sax player Cyril Diaz & His Orchestra – on a beautiful 10-inch EP from Soundway! Diaz and his players combine raw, passionate performances with excellent musicianship and eclectic regional influences – all in a perfect, diversely rhythmic Caribbean calypso style. Cyril has a smooth, impeccable tone on sax, and they way it floats over the more feverish rhythms is really wonderful. Titles include "Taboo", "Voodoo", "Chive Soup Merengue" and "Serenal".
