Simone lost her shirt recording this one – we hope not on the cost of the studio session – but despite the sexy image on the cover, the album's got all the poise and class of her previous records – a careful balance between maturing MPB modes, which keeps the set nicely free of any too-commercial moments! Simone stands as kind of an heir to the 70s generation – furthering the best elements of music by folks like Milton Nascimento and Maria Bethania – with all the careful balance and lack of overindulgence those references might imply. Titles include "Corpo", "Embarcacao", "Amor", "Merecimento", "To Que To", and "O Sal Da Terra".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
