We're never really sure what to call Lighthouse. Are they "folk rock"? "Rock"? Or just plain groovy? Whatever the case, though, this is the album that includes their great cut "One Fine Morning". In case you don't know it, it's got a great funky riff that starts out the groove, then drums kick in with a nice hard fast junglist sound, and then brass and vocals come in at a triple tempo, for a strident jazzy dancefloor groove that lasts about 6 and a half minutes. It's a great cut, and tougher to find than you'd expect! Other tracks include "Love Of A Woman", "Old Man", "1849", "Hat's Off", "Sweet Lullabye", "Show Me The Way", "Sing, Sing, Sing", and "Step Out On The Sea". (Cover has some wear, the remnants of a sticker, and a bit of seam splitting.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Gemigo, 1974. Very Good-
Stone cold LP of killer seventies funky soul from Chicago! Rasputin Stash made some other recordings that had more of a rock feel, but this one is cold, hard, and funky, with some nice Gemigo/Curtom soul touches. There's a nice breakbeat on the cut "Devil Made Me Do It", plus great ... LP, Vinyl record album

The second album by this legendary 70s funk combo – best known as Herbie Hancock's backing band, but sounding great here on their own. The album's much more of a solid soul effort than the first one – which was great, but felt more like Herbie had stepped out of the studio for a minute ... LP, Vinyl record album

Heaven & Earth
Mercury, 1978. Very Good+
Excellent work from this smooth Chicago vocal group! The album may well be the best the group ever recorded – and it features some stellar ballad work produced with a nice spacey tone, almost in a Rose Royce mellow mode – by Jerry Butler's Fountain Productions team and by Clarence ...
