Hold It!
LP (Item 52373) King, Early 60s — Condition: Used
Next to Honky Tonk, this has to be one of the greatest Bill Doggett LPs for King! The set kicks off with Bill's great instrumental "Hold It" – a jaunty little groover that has the band fast vamping, then someone shouting "hold it", which they do, then start again. A simple gimmick – but it was a hit with the kids, and Bill's tune was copied often. Over and above that, though, the album's got some great hard-grooving tunes – organ, guitar, and tenor wailing away tightly, on titles that include "Rainbow Riot", "Hippy Dippy", "Tanya", "Birdie", and "Blip Blop". No filler here! (Mid 70s pressing on Power Pak. Cover has small splits on the top and bottom seams.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
