CD (Item 522015) Sunnyside, 2010 — Condition: New Copy

Trumpeter David Weiss heads a really great project here – a session that aims to recreate the hipper sides of 60s jazz – a special space that's not really "new thing", never too avant, but definitely points the way towards the spiritual jazz years of the 70s! Weiss chooses work by Andrew Hill, Charles Moore, Tony Williams, and Herbie Hancock to realize this bold musical vision – and his bandmates really help get the spirit of the record right – tight tenor from JD Allen, guitar from Nir Felder, bass from Matt Clohesy, and drums from Jamire Williams. Titles include "Number 4", "Erato", "Snuck In", "Black Comedy", and "I Have A Dream".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
