LP (Item 56361) MCA, 1974 — Condition: Used

A great little soundtrack – maybe the best one that John Williams ever did (at least to our ears), and without the heavy approach of his work on big 70s sci-fi blockbusters! The film, as we're sure you know, depicts an all-star Earthquake event in LA – and in keeping with the slinky setting of the picture, Williams has crafted some nice little tunes that mix together jazz and strings, slinking at a pace that's not really funky, but which has a good bit of bounce, and maintains a warm easy groove. About half the tunes on the set are more dramatic – starker numbers with a dark edge and off-kilter strings – and one of them even has some earthquake sound effects! Titles include "The City Sleeps", "Love Theme", "Love Scene", "Miles On Wheels", "City Theme", and "Something For Rosa". (Cover has a cut corner, a spot of tape on the spine, and two small stickers on the back.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
