Salute To The Saxophone/Digital Live (DVD)
DVD (Item 488358) Eagle Eye, 1992/1998 — Condition: New Copy
A jazz double-feature! First up are The Roots – not the hip hop group, but a batch of jazz reedmen who include Arthur Blythe, Chico Freeman, Nathan Davis, and Sam Rivers – working here with a rhythm section that includes Don Pullen on piano, Santi DeBriano on bass, and Idris Muhammad on drums. The set's got a mix of older bop modes and some of the freer spirits you'd expect from the players – and tunes include "After Dark", "Parker's Mood", "Lester Leaps In", "Body & Soul", and "Never Always". The Gadd Gang take over on the second half – performing a 60 minute set that includes "Things Ain't What They Used To Be", "I Can't Turn You Loose", "Watching The River Flow", "My Girl/Changes", "Whiter Shade Of Pale", and "Signed Sealed Delivered". (DVD is NTSC coded, regions 1 & 4. There is a small cutout punch through the barcode.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
