Socking soul from the 60s – and a great assortment of tunes that often have a heavy R&B influence too! There's plenty of grit in the grooves throughout – and the package is pulled together from the sorts of rare singles you might spend a lifetime tracking down – all laid out here in one sweet little package! Most numbers are upbeat – but less northern soul than some hard-edged stompers – the kind that some folks might be tempted to call tittyshakers. Titles on this volume include "She's Mine" by The Rivals, "Work Work" by Chico Leverett, "Shimmy Shelly Shake" by Willie C Echols, "I Don't Care" by James Crawford, "The Wig" by Lorenzo Holden, "Jes One Mo Time" by Madman Jones, "Baby You Goofed" by Rudi Stewart, and "Send Me Some Lovin" by The Huntsmen.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

The folks at Plastic dig a little deeper than usual for this one, and they turn up a nice batch of cuts – some obscure, some better-known – to define the genre of 60's Noir. The 16 tracks on the compilation are a mix of crime/spy type tracks, moody jazz vocal tracks, and dark moody ... LP, Vinyl record album
BGP (UK), 1970s. New Copy 2LP
16 tracks of sweet and smooth 70s soul – hand-picked with a freshness that should appeal to the modern hip hop fan as much as the older soul collector. The tracks on here aren't as beat or break-heavy as some of the material on other sample-driven collections we stock – but that's fine ... LP, Vinyl record album
BGP (UK), Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy 2LP
Female funk galore – and one of the greatest all-girl compilations we've ever heard! The set's a brilliant follow-up to the first Funk Soul Sisters set on BGP – but we've gotta say that we like it even better than the first, and really appreciate the wide range of unusual tunes ... Kabana/Secret Stash, 1973. New Copy (reissue)
They're not kidding with the name of this group – because the set's a masterpiece of 70s Afro Funk – totally great all the way through! The combo has African origins, but they're recording here in London – which makes for a really wonderful criss-crossing of cultural modes – ... LP, Vinyl record album
