Slipped Away/Hungry For Your Love (Fryer's Allsplice)

Add Item to Want List
7-inch (Item 607582) Fantasy/Soul Spectrum (UK), Late 70s — Condition: New Copy

A wickedly jazzy groove from Allspice – made even better by some rock-solid Wayne Henderson production! The group are one of the best from the late 70s years at Fantasy Records – and "Slipped Away" is the kind of tune that should have made them huge – a tightly compressed funky groove, ala Earth Wind & Fire at their best – topped with sweet female vocals that are almost on a Minnie Riperton tip – but with some jazzier Blackbyrds-styled instrumental riffs too! "Hungry For Your Love" is a cut that's already wickedly funky in the original – but which gets a Fryer edit here that really focuses on the riffing that drives the tune!  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
