Que Pollo
CD (Item 493822) JCA/Salsa International, Late 60s — Condition: New Copy
Nothing chicken here – as the album's a classic groover from Joe Cotto – easily one of his best-remembered sets! The album's got a range of rhythms – upbeat guaracha tracks mixed with some mellower boleros – but throughout, there's a nicely sinister edge – lots of offbeat changes that keep things cool, and make this one a record that's stood out over the years. Arrangements are by Louie Ramirez and Joe Cain, and you can definitely hear their touches – and titles include the great "Descarga Numero 4", which has an extended piano solo over percussion, after beginning with some horn flourishes – plus "Pollero Gavilian", a heady guaguanco number with some dark overtones. Other tracks include "Mira Ese Pollo", "Asi Es Mi Mona", and "Ven Guajira". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
