A great little album of southern funk from the 70s – cut by the team that provided musical backing on many of the classic Hi Records sessions from the time! The groove is a bit different than usual for Hi – not compressed, burning deep soul – but tight, funky, and flanged-out – a bit like what classic P-Funk might have been like, had it been recorded in Memphis! The group's super sharp in their playing – with great bass and electric keyboards – but they've also got kind of a trippy feel that's very surprising, given the more restrained soul quality of much of the stuff on Hi. The album's all original material, and most cuts have cool vocals slinking in and out of the funk – and titles include "On The Loose", "Skinny Dippin'", "Superstar", "Purple Raindrops", and "You Got Me Comin". (Includes MP3 download of the album!)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Funky sax genius from Professor Earl Lett – a cool combo player who cut some great funky 45s at the end of the 60s and start of the 70s! The cuts here are a mix of instrumental and vocal numbers – but even the latter have plenty of reed work from Earl, blown with a sharp-edged and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Brand new solo work from La La Brooks of The Crystals – a singer who first worked with Phil Spector when she was only 13 years old – and who still sounds pretty darn great all these many years later! Unreleased gems from Uku Kuut – most of them cut during the 80s and early 90s – with a great mix of drum machine rhythms and spare keyboard grooves! The approach is very lean and clean – almost an electro equivalent of the stripped-down styles usually used in house music at the ... LP, Vinyl record album

An incredible album of harmony soul – easily one of the best you could ever hope to find! The deeply in-demand beats for Jay Dee's now classic 2001 effort! We don't need to tell you that Welcome 2 Detroit turned out to be a wonderful debut for the initial BBE hip hop series.
