Larry Banks' Soul Family AlbumVarious
CD (Item 466956) Kent (UK), 1960s — Condition: New Copy
A key force in New York City soul music during the 60s, and one who's finally getting his due – the gregarious Larry Banks – producer, performer, songwriter, and all-around great guy – easily the "glue" that held together countless records back in the day! The set's a wonderful discovery in 60s soul – and brings to light a wide range of work that all bears Banks' touches at some level – often as the writer of the tune, but also as the producer at points, especially on some of the more indie efforts. This package is one of the last compilations initiated by Dave Godin before his untimely early death – and it's got a real Godin-like depth to it – with track-by-track notes, reflections on banks, a bit of history, and more – all to tell this under-told story, and present it with some really wonderful music! Titles include "Go Now" by Bessie Banks, "My Life Is No Better" by The Dynamics, "Come On Act Right" by The Geminis, "Ooh It Hurts Me" by Larry Banks, "Living In The Land Of Heartache" by The Cavaliers, "You'd Better Get Hip Girl" by Kenny Carter, "What Good Am I" by Jaibi, "We Can Do It" by The Shaladons, "Don't You Know I Love You" by The Pleasures, "Doctor" by Bessie Banks, "Lights Out" by Kenny Carter, "You Don't Know What You're Missing" by The Exciters, "No Brag Just Fact" by The Hesitations, and "I Couldn't Build A World" by The Devonnes. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
