Really lovely work from Shelby Flint – a mid 60s pop singer, but one with a voice that was much richer than most of her contemporaries! Shelby's definitely got a slight touch of folk in her music – that trilling lyrical approach that some female folkies used at the time, light acoustic guitar in her backing, and a songwriting credibility that has Flint turning in a fair bit of original tunes for the set – not always the case for most of her girl singing peers! Production is usually nice and lean – never too commercial or overwhelming, which means that there's a very strong focus on Shelby's vocals – really upfront in the mix, and sounding nice and personal. CD features 22 tracks from her Valiant years, plus 2 more from Cadence – titles that include "Somebody", "Magic Wand", "A Broken Vow", "Angel On My Shoulder", "Wonderland", "I've Grown Accustomed To His Face", "Bluebird", "What's New Pussycat", "I Will Love You", "Oh I Miss Him So", and "Pipes For Keith". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
