Chi Lavora E Perduto/La Donna E Una Cosa Meravigliosa
CD (Item 469223) Saimel (Italy), 1963/1964 — Condition: New Copy
Two sprightly 60s scores from Piero Piccioni – both of them great, but in a very unusual way! Chi Lavora E Perduto has a fair bit of playful woodwinds leaping around in whimsical melodies – sometimes a faint flute line doing a simple joyous dance, sometimes a fuller brace of horns moving in rhythmic unison with a bit of strings – often to the tune of a compelling core melody, in ways that remind us a lot of Nino Rota's best from the same time. A few tunes have a bit of a jazzier feel, but just a slight one – and there's also a nice undercurrent of darkness as the soundtrack rolls on. La Donna E Una Cosa Mareavigliosa is from a year later, and has a bit more strings – again moving with some playful elements, and a few whimsical melodies! CD features 12 tracks from the first film, and 10 from the second – plus images from both movies. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
