Magazine (Item 537910) Wax Poetics, 2010 — Condition: New Copy

Wax Poetics has dual cover stars – Southern California soul & funk legends War on the front and the great Syl Johnson on the back! The eclectic Cali funk, soul, rhythm collective is nicely featured by Wax Po, in a story that's also a bit of a reflection on what life was like in Compton & Long Beach when the players were coming up there. Syl Johnson is interviewed in one of the best Syl articles we've seen in a 2010 – pretty much The Year Of Syl Johnson, in which he's thankfully getting the widespread props he's long deserved. This issue also has pieces on The Budos Band, Chris Clark, Melvin Davis, Johnny Colon, Al Cooper, Lonnie Jordan, Claus Ogerman, Record Rundown with DJ Muggs, the always great RE:Discovery section and more!  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
