Airto — Latino – Aqui Se Puede ... CD 9.99

An overlooked gem from Airto – recorded after his 70s years on bigger labels, but a set that almost tops all of them in the end! There's a wonderful mix going on here – a blend of rootsy and electric, and Latin and Brazilian – the former clearly from the placement of the record on New York's Montuno label – an imprint that did plenty of great sessions filled with Latin jazz! The shift makes for a fresh one for Airto – still plenty of room to show off his famous percussion impulses, yet in a slightly different way – often grooving in a Latin fusion mode that's a nice maturation from the CTI years. The set's filled with all-star players – including Jorge Dalto on electric piano, Raul De Souza on trombone, Joe Farrell on flute, Alphonso Johnson on bass, and Oscar Castro Neves on keyboards, guitar, and cavaquinho – and the lovely Flora's also on board to sing a bit on the set. Titles include the extended jammer "Tombo", plus "Aqui Se Pede", "Jump", "The Return", "Sin Salida", and "Anatelio".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Quite possibly the last truly sublime album ever recorded by Os Mutantes – a set that's a bit more rock-oriented then their first few, but still pretty revolutionary overall! One of the hardest rocking albums ever cut by Os Mutantes – a record that's got a slightly ironic take on rock and roll styles of the time – still performed with the sense of drama and humor that always made the band so great! Musidisc/Whatmusic (UK), 1963. New Copy (reissue)
Warm bossa grooves – and the second album by Orlandivo, billed here on the cover as Orlann Divo! The album's a great batch of instrumentals – jazzy, with a mix of percussion, bass, and organ that's quite different from the usual bossa album of its type – much more expansive, and ... A fantastic mid 60s album from Grant Green – but one that never got its due originally, because it was unreleased at the time – and didn't come out until a Japanese version in the late 70s! A wonderful session by Andrew Hill – recorded in 1968, but issued only briefly in 1981 – and out of print for years! Vistone/Tramp (Germany), 1994. New Copy
The last album ever recorded by funky drummer Roy Porter – and a really unique set that seeks to combine his older grooves from the 70s with contemporary elements from the 90s hip hp scene!
