Funky fusion from Japan – pulled from a host of rare records you'd never be able to find in the original, and all hand-picked by the cats at the eastern branch of Wax Poetics! The tracks here are almost all from the tail end of the 70s – and do a great job of mixing together some electric and some acoustic instrumentation – almost always with a very strong rhythmic bent, either in a jazz funk style, or more in a modal mode! Tracks are often nice and long, and filled with plenty of soul – and titles include "Low East Side" by Shunzo Ohno, "Sentimental Steps" by Yoshio Otomo, "The Logbook" by Mararu Imada, "Whispering Weeds" by Yoshio Ikeda, "Last Summer" by Fumio Itabashi, "Let's Get Together" by Miko Masuda, and "Lady Boogie" by Takeru Muraoka. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
