Dark Is The Sun
CD (Item 567265) Jazzman (UK), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
A brilliant and rare new project on the Jazzman label – the debut LP from keyboards, synth and harpsichord adventurer Greg Foat and his cosmos-searching Group – amazing stuff that's truly on par with the deep, lost rarities that Jazzman so lovingly mines for and reissues! The hints of the greatness to come that so piqued our interest on the preceding 10-inch EP are delivered up in full, and actually surpasses our expectations. There's just such stylistic and instrumental depth going on here, and it's delivered in accessibly groovy way! The album was recorded in Sweden with instrumentation including loads of great congas, drums and other percussion, a female choir brings lovely wordless vocals, plus guitars, flugelhorn, trombone and trumpet. It's evocative of trippy-jazzy soundtracks and sound library material, but like other contemporary acts that Jazzman as championed – most notably, the Natural Yogurt Band – it's got a unique vibe all it's own. Here's hoping for a career's worth of cool music from Mr. Foat! Includes "Time Piece 1", "Dark Is The Sun" (Parts 1-4), "Hello Old Friend", "Yeah You Are", "Uncle Bessie", "Bright Is The Sun" and "Time Piece 2 (Epilogue)". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
