CD (Item 608936) Tzadik, 2012 — Condition: New Copy

John Zorn takes on Dracula – in a sweet instrumental score for a stage production of Nosferatu! The music here is definitely in the moodier, more soundscape-oriented side of the Zorn spectrum – and is arguably one of the best examples of this style that John's given us in years! Some tracks are quite noisy – almost taking us back to the Zorn of 20 years ago – while others are wonderfully sensitive, and feature great work on bass from Bill Laswell, keyboards from Rob Burger, and vibes from Kevin Norton. Zorn plays alto – and titles include "Nosferatu", "Lucy", "Hypnosis", "Mina", "The Battle Of Good & Evil", "Desolate Landscape", and "Jonathan Harker".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
