My Fair Lady
LP (Item 513660) Columbia, 1964 — Condition: Used
Andre Previn's second take on the score to My Fair Lady – and a set that's not nearly as well known as his Contemporary Records version of the music with Shelly Manne! This date's a quartet session – featuring Herb Ellis on guitar, Red Mitchell on bass, and Frank Capp on drums – and Previn gets plenty of room to show off his chops on piano, maybe even more so than before at Contemporary – moving through modes that range from mellow to quite frenetic, depending on the tune. Titles include "I'm An Ordinary Man", "With A Little Bit Of Luck", "The Rain In Spain", "You Did It", "On The Street Where You Live", "Get Me To The Church On Time", and "Without You". (White label promo. Spine has one spot of old tape and a small rip. Bottom seam has masking tape. Back cover has some pen & marker.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
