A stellar Latin groover from Johnny Pacheco & Pete Colde Rodriguez – rightfully dubbed a perfect combination – recorded in 1969 and released in 1971, and we can think of no reason to have delayed such a smoking set! It's one of the better albums in the successful series of them that Pacheco cut with vocalist Rodriguez – with styles that stick mostly in a traditional Latin mode, with a few salsa touches that would become much more pronounced in the 70s. Titles include "La Esencia Del Guaguanco", "Blanca", "Sin Cana Y Sin Platanal", "Sonero", "Mi Nuevo Amor", and "Lo Anoro". Nice cover, too – with the pair toasting and playing dice! (Original multi-color label pressing. Cover has a small split on the top seam and light wear, with some stains and ripped corner on the back paste-on.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Verve, 1966. Very Good-
Killer material, and one of Willie's best-ever albums for Verve! Solid State, 1969. Very Good- Gatefold
Stone lost Latin funk! This one's Candido's rarest – and it's a killer batch of conga-heavy grooves, recorded in the late 60s for Solid State, and featuring a very groovy set of mod Latin arrangements by Joe Cain. The band features organ, guitar, bass, horns, and some upfront conga solos ... LP, Vinyl record album

Warner, 1972. Very Good Gatefold
A seminal bit of Latin funk from the Bay Area scene of the early 70s – the second album from Malo, and an even harder-hitting jam session than the first!
