New Territories
LP (Item 471409) Ubiquity, 2008 — Condition: New Copy
Eric Lau steps into some definite new territory here – building off his production work for Dudley Perkins, Lupe Fiasco, and others – and emerging strongly as a lead artist on his own! Lau's got plenty of great help on the set – an array of London-based singers who help flesh out his cracklingly soulful beats nicely – taking the tunes into some very hip areas that quickly step between neo soul, hip hop, and slightly more cosmic modes! There's a really unified feel to the record – despite the variety of voices in the mix – and the whole thing almost feels like a mini-suite of sorts, a kind of more street-sensitive take on spacier styles floating around in the underground of late – brought nicely down to earth by Lau. Titles include "Right Side", "Don't Do It To", "Confession Lounge", "Final Chance", "Don't Let Them", "Show Me", "Begin", "Let It Out", and "Hope". © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | |||||
