Late 60s greatness from Grandpa Jones – a blazing banjo picker, songwriter and passionate interpreter of the best the country-folk songbook – so much more than just that hammy feller on kitschy TV shows! This great overview of his late 60s recordings from Omni puts together a couple of strong Monument LPs – Everybody's Grandpa and Sings Hits From Hee Haw. It's remarkable stuff, with Jones tearing it up on banjo and singing with truth and passion, not playing a hokey character.
