Complete Don Pullen On Black Saint & Soul Note (Capricorn Rising/Healing Force/Warriors/Milano Strut/Magic Triangle) (7CD set)
CD (Item 610731) Black Saint (Italy), Late 70s/Early 80s — Condition: New Copy
Pure brilliance from Don Pullen – arguably some of the best recordings ever made by the adventurous pianist – packaged here together in one incredible collection! Pullen was already a key force in the American underground by the time of these recordings – but really took everything to the next level with the Black Saint/Soul Note label – finding a way to focus his energy, and really realize his musical vision like never before – and, in a way, hitting heights that he might never hit later in his career either! Each album here is a treasure on its own – and together, the set is a hell of a package – one that features Pullen's piano in the company of players like Chico Freeman, Joseph Jarman, or Sam Rivers on reeds; Olu Dara on trumpet; Fred Hopkins on bass; Bobby Battle on drums; and Don Moye on percussion – as well as two great records that feature Don alone at the piano. The set features the albums Capricorn Rising, Healing Force, Warriors, Milano Strut, The Magic Triangle, Evidence Of Things Unseen, and The Sixth Sense – all of them great! (All albums come in paper sleeve replicas of the original album covers!) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
