Overload (plus singles) (180 gram pressing)
LP (Item 614957) Survival/Medical, Early 80s — Condition: New Copy
Overlooked greatness from the post-punk years in the UK – wonderful work by the Drinking Electricity duo of Anne-Marie and David Rome – a pair who come across as a harder-edged, more political version of Chris and Cosey – or maybe a darker, meaner version of Young Marble Giants! The tunes here are plenty spare – mostly keyboards, beats, and scratchy guitar – and the vocals are delivered in a relatively deadpan style, yet have a bit more bite and message than most of the group's contemporaries in this mode. There's plenty echoes of Sheffield and Manchester in the music – yet things are also nicely lean and personal too. Titles include "Fall", "Colour Coding", "Good Times", "Discord Dance", "News Peak", and "Twilight Zone". 2LP set also features a full bonus LP with singles – including "Subliminal", "Random Particles", "Cruising Missiles", "Shake Some Action (demo)", and "China". (Amazing package – 2LPs, red vinyl, with insert – in an edition of 650 numbered copies!) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
