Down In LA (with bonus track)
CD (Item 603499) A&M/Now Sounds (UK), 1968 — Condition: New Copy
The A&M debut of Brewer & Shipley – and a set that's got a lot deeper sound than the duo's later radio hits! There's a youthful, earnest feel going on here – touched with a bit of sunshine, too – all in that wonderfully fresh feel you'll get from the early A&M forays into rock – this magical vibe that's not nearly as posturing, or as self-conscious as some of the heavier projects from bigger labels at the time. Songwriting is sensitive, delivered beautifully by the two voices – and instrumentation often has acoustic elements that echo the love of country that was bubbling in the LA scene of this late 60s Byrds generation. Yet the vibe is quite different than anything you might know, too – almost somewhere between the Roger Nichols Trio and Lambert & Nuttycomb – showing a nice A&M evolution that links together both acts. Titles include "She Thinks", "Truly Right", "Green Bamboo", "Dreamin In The Shade", "Love Love", and "An Incredible State Of Affairs". CD features the bonus track "Keeper Of The Keys (mono)". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
