CD (Item 61180) WEA (UK), Late 60s/Early 70s — Condition: New Copy

Heavy hitters! The set's a great batch of raw and lean tracks from the glory days of Atlantic Records – some killer grooves from the major crossover years of the late 60s and early 70s – when rootsy R&B, soul, funk, and New Orleans grooves were hitting big with audiences not normally into the music. As a result, many tracks from that time had a unique sound that skipped over genre and style conventions – stretching the approaches of the music into new areas to meet with the new listeners. There's loads of great tracks from the time that stand as some of the best funky music recorded by Atlantic and related labels – and this great set features 20 numbers that really get at the best of the bunch! Titles include "Help Me Get The Feeling (parts 1 & 2)" by Ray Sharpe, "Help The Bear" by Ted Taylor, "Polk Salad Annie" by Tony Joe White, "Man Of Many Words" by Buddy Guy, "Cross Cut Saw" by John Hammond, "Sweat Pea" by Don Covay, "Sardines & Turnip Greens" by The Dynamic Eight, "Freedom Blues" by Little Richard, "Stud Spider" by Tony Joe White, "Everything I Do Goin Be Funky" by Don Covay, "Me" by Otis Rush, "Funky" by Freddie King, and "What You Got" by The Soul Brother Six.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
