For Once In My Life
CD (Item 436608) Prestige/OJC, 1967 -- Condition: New Copy
One of Sylvia Syms grooviest records ever -- a set that takes her past some of the cocktail vocals of earlier albums, thanks to use of some great soul jazz players in the backings! The style here is still intimate and often mellow -- done in that small club, late nite mode of Syms' 50s records -- but the music is different, and played by two different groups -- one with Johnny Hammond Smith on organ and Thornel Schwartz on guitar, the other with Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar and Jerome Richardson on flute. Titles are mostly 60s numbers -- with tracks that include "Who Will Take My Place", "Games That Lovers Play", "Solitaire", "For Once In My Life", "Yesterday", and "I Will Wait For You". (CD case has a cut out mark.) © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | ||||||
