CD (Item 37485) Universal (France), 1972 — Condition: New Copy

An amazing organist – probably the best in Europe! Eddy Louiss is a genius – a massive player who should have been huge, but who's barely been recognized over on this side of the Atlantic, save for a bit of recording with Stan Getz. This 1972 session is a gem – one of his best records, recorded in 1972 with a small quartet that includes Kenny Clarke on drums, Jimmy Gourley on guitar, and Guy Pederson on bass. The set's got a laidback soul jazz feel – with lots of long tracks that let Gourley and Louiss meander about, while Clarke punctuates the tracks nicely with some sharp work on the drum kit. Titles include "Bohemia After Dark", "Ow", "Bag's Groove", "I Should Care", and "Angel Eyes".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
