LP (Item 549431) Soundway (UK), 1960s/Early 70s — Condition: New Copy

Cumbia, descarga and hard salsa-inspired sounds from Colombia – more specifically, the coastal town of Cartagena – a great set material produced by Jose Maria "Curro" Fuentes! Fuentes was the youngest son of the family that founded Colombia's Discos Fuentes label – and went to produce for his own Discos Curros imprint and at Phillips – taking a hands on approach to the production, bringing a focus on live style, vibrant sounds that could drive dancefloors along the coast. Cartagena! features amazing stuff that's been little heard outside of the South America – rare LP and 7" numbers by Clodomiro Montes Y El Super Comb Curro, Rosendo Martinez Y Su Orcuesta, Los Seven Del Swing, Alexa Acosta Y Su Orquesta and many more – compiled by Roberto Gyemant with assistence from Colombian music devotee and resident Will "Quantic" Holland and Soundway's Miles Cleret. Titles include "Me Voy Pa'La Costa" by Rosendo Y Su Banda, "El Alegron" by Rosendo Martinez Y Su Orquestra, "Santa Marta Cumbia" by Cantina Y Su Combo, "Honolulu" by El Gran Ramancito Y El Super Combo Curro, "Celoso" by Los Seven Del Swing, "La Gozadera" by Alex Acosta Y Su Orquestra and more. Vinyl includes one exclusive bonus track: "El Corronchon-Chon" by Pipe Guarin Y Sus Sabaneros. (Vinyl includes code for download.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
