CD (Item 595413) Adventure Music, 2011 — Condition: New Copy

We're not sure if the "current" in the title applies to the fact that Jovino Santos Neto is playing a bit of Fender Rhodes this time around – but we certainly like that change, and it helps give the record an even richer feel than some of his previous albums! As before, there's a mix of Brazilian and jazz modes at play here – some of the balance between complicated arrangements and sensitive swing that Brazilian jazz has always had since the 60s, but inflected with qualities that also mark the American scene in which the album was recorded. Jovino also plays acoustic piano, flute, and melodica – and other players include Harvey Wainapel on saxes and clarinet and Jeff Busch on percussion – plus Ben Thomas, who brings in nice guest vibes on a few tracks. Titles include "Corrente", "Vivendo No Presente", "Pra Casa", "Zagia", "Sea & Sky", and "A Fonte".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
