CD (Item 595640) Ata Tak/Bureau B (Germany), 1981 — Condition: New Copy

A standout moment in the German scene of the post-punk generation – an incredibly charming little album from 16 year-old Andreas Dorau – as quirkily electronic as it is downright poppy! The tunes are all short and playful – with a groove that's similar to Dorau's early hit "Fred Vom Jupiter" – but given the record's setting on the Ata Tak label, the electronics are all pretty incredible too – very offbeat analogue sounds that are similar to those you'd hear on contemporary releases by Der Plan or Pyrolator! Dorau's vocals have a nicely off-kilter tone too – perhaps because of his youth – which brings up a bit of post-punk darkness to the record, even when things are slightly silly – almost making him the Jilted John of the German scene! Titles include "Fred Vom Jupiter", "Junger Mann", "Einkauf", "Tulpen Und Narzissen", "Kokomotivfuhrer", "Der Lachende Papst", and "Negermuskeln". CD features 6 more bonus tracks too – all short, groovy electronic numbers!  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
