Ivory Coast Soul 2 – Afro Soul In Abidjan From 1976 to 1981Various
LP (Item 606051) Hot Casa (France), Late 70s/Early 80s — Condition: New Copy
Amazing stuff – a stone cooker that almost beats the first volume of Ivory Coast Soul – and further mines the overlooked gems from the West African nation! The album's overflowing with groovers from the late 70s – tracks that often echo some of the Ethiopian styles of the time, yet have a groove that's almost even tighter – especially in the rhythmic commitment to funk, which makes nearly every number here the kind of cut that could easily cross over to an American funky audience too! They've really knocked it out of the park with this one – and the set's one of the best Afro Funk compilations we've heard in years – and is double-length, too. Titles include "Ye Man Noun" by Pierre Antoine, "Me Houe Gnon" by Okoi Seka Athanase, "I Love Music" by Sumo Brothers, "Wouck" by Nguenang, "Labazo" by Bony Castro, "Mansou Djouwi" by Houon Pierre, "Man Moeu" by Docteur Appia Morroh, "Kossopka" by Stanley Murphy, "Bravo Sotra" by Francois Lougah, "Ameniwa" by Assale, "Key Len Fece" by Wey Len Nobel, and "Onguindo" by Charles Atangana & Emitais. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
