CD (Item 26393) Fontana/Polygram (France), 1961/1964 -- Condition: New Copy

Incredibly strange work from this lesser-known French singer! Boby Lapointe is both a vocalist and a tuba player -- a very odd mix, and one that's echoed nicely in the style of this set! His tunes have a playful quality that's somewhere in the territory of Brel and Brassens at the time -- but often a bit more whimsical overall, although no less poetic. Elements of tango seem to filter through some of the rhythms, and other French styles as well -- and the CD features 2 tracks from the film Tires Sur La Pianiste (aka Shoot The Piano Player). Titles include "Bobo Leon", "Eh! Toto", "L'Helicon", "T'as Pas, T'as Pas Tout Dit", and "Framboise".  © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc.
