One Way
CD (Item 610886) Spotlite (UK), 1978 — Condition: New Copy
A cooker of a date from these two overlooked British players – drummer Tommy Chase and altoist Ray Warleigh – working here on a hard-swinging set! Warleigh's a great talent on his horn – and doesn't always get to shine as a leader like this, given that some of his more important recordings have been in larger ensembles on the Brit scene – such as work by Mike Westbrook or Mike Gibbs – which makes his well-crafted solos here a real treat! Chase has a nice touch on the kit – a solid, grounded sound – and half the record also features guest trumpet from Jon Eardley too. Other players include John Burch on piano and Danny Padmore on bass – and titles include "Chasin The Bimpt", "What's New", "Like Someone In Love", "I Remember You", and "Speak Low". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
