LP (Item 452784) Lion, 1969 — Condition: New Copy

An acid-drenched classic – beautifully reissued! The album's the one and only effort from South Carolina's Christopher – but it's a record that easily matches more famous psyche efforts from either coast at the end of the 60s, even though the music was really just recorded as a demo! The album's got plenty of heavy fuzz guitar, but also some surprisingly personal vocals – sung in a mode that's heartfelt, yet not really that sweet – more slightly sad and dreamy, creating a sense of loss that really marks the mood of the album. When the heavier guitars kick in, the blend with the vocals is especially great – almost Black Sabbathy at points, but not nearly as overblown. Other tracks get slightly bluesy, but in a way that's not cliched – and titles include "Holiday", "The Great Clock", "What'cha Gonna Do", "Death Song", "Modern Day Oracles", and "Day Of Sunshine". (Beautifully done reissue – heavy vinyl, heavy cover, with full notes – and limited to only 500 copies!)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
