Star's End
CD (Item 603537) Virgin/Esoteric (UK), 1974 — Condition: New Copy
David Bedford's two part Star's End composition – his first album for Virgin and a wild piece of ambitious, out there orch rock! Star's End was commissioned to be performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – a slow-building, tense and spacey work with and also quite subtle in surprising ways. Thre's an eerie, kind of lonely vibe, with is especially fascinating given the orchestra atmosherel, – though those moments lead up to bombastic bursts of horns and percussion. Includes "Stars End Part One" and "Stars End Part Two" – 22+ minutes each. Mike Oldfield plays guitar and bass and Chris Cutler is on percussion, and that duo's interplay with the orchestra really is something else! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
