Those Were The Days (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
CD (Item 601668) A&M (Japan), 1969 — Condition: New Copy
A set that may well be the grooviest album ever cut by Julius Wechter & The Baja Marimba Band – and a set that goes way past their initial style, into a range of sweet late 60s A&M modes! There's definitely a lot of Sunshine Pop in the mix here – right from the vocal harmonies on the start of the album, arranged nicely by the great Nick DeCaro – whose presence on the record is felt throughout, in a range of groovy late 60s touches! Wechter still brings in some of his trademark marimba – his faux-Mexican approach that was similar to Herb Alpert's trumpet – but like Herb at this point, he's going way past the usual – on tunes that include "Flyin High", "Those Were The Days", "Peru 68", "Elenore", "Happening To Me", and "Knowing When To Leave".
