A groovy groovy soundtrack from Johnny Williams – scored for a goofy heist film starring Natalie Wood, and featuring a wonderful blend of jazzy, bossa, and harmony-styled tunes! The whole thing's extremely lively – and although Williams is working with a larger orchestra on most of the record, there's also some bouncing electric bass on the bottom of most cuts – and nice use of jazzy solo instruments. The title theme "Penelope" is sung in a sunshine harmony mode by The Pennypipers, a group assembled for the record – and other tracks include "Poolside", "The Girl In The Yellow Dress", "Girl Chase", "The Mad Professor", "Penny's Arcade", and "At The Art Museum". (Cover has a cutout hole and shrinkwrap has a hole on the front.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Barry conducts versions of his famous soundtrack themes from the 60s – as you'd guess from the title – taking them in different directions than on the original recordings, and coming up with some nice moody readings that show the direction he was heading in the late 60s. An obscure 60s spy soundtrack from Lalo Schifrin – done with a style that's a bit different than some of his other work at the time! There's still a fair bit of the trademark Schifrin elements – bits of jazz, bossa, and Latin touches on the tunes – but there's also a style here ... LP, Vinyl record album
