A groovy groovy soundtrack from Johnny Williams – scored for a goofy heist film starring Natalie Wood, and featuring a wonderful blend of jazzy, bossa, and harmony-styled tunes! The whole thing's extremely lively – and although Williams is working with a larger orchestra on most of the record, there's also some bouncing electric bass on the bottom of most cuts – and nice use of jazzy solo instruments. The title theme "Penelope" is sung in a sunshine harmony mode by The Pennypipers, a group assembled for the record – and other tracks include "Poolside", "The Girl In The Yellow Dress", "Girl Chase", "The Mad Professor", "Penny's Arcade", and "At The Art Museum". (Yellow label promo. Cover has a small name in pen on front and a crease on one corner.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

More Than A Miracle
MGM, Early 70s. Sealed
A dreamy little soundtrack by Piero Piccioni – not as mad as some of his more famous Italian work, but with plenty of nice touches! Lolita
MGM, Late 50s. Sealed Gatefold
A very groovy little soundtrack for this original film version of Lolita – directed by Stanley Kubrick with a screeplay by Nabokov himself. The album sports the famous "Lolita Theme", with a weird vocal part that goes "nya nya", and which became something of a minor ... LP, Vinyl record album

A really standout score from Oliver Nelson – a set that's got some of his groovier touches at times, but also features some pretty great straighter scoring as well! A pretty sweet – and nearly forgotten – Quincy Jones soundtrack from the 60s – done for a film based on Carl Reiner's book and play of the same name, directed by Reiner himself! United Artists, Late 60s. Very Good
Leroy Holmes and orchestra lay down some very groovy instrumental readings of tracks from "new provocative" films from the late 60s – including ones that were Euro trash and American sexploitation flicks, both masquerading under art house guises. Nice moments include Leroy's ... LP, Vinyl record album
