Shri Camel
CD (Item 392436) Columbia, 1980 — Condition: New Copy
One of Terry Riley's trippiest albums ever – a sublime batch of minimal grooves played only on a Yamaha organ! The album was recorded at the end of the 70s, but it's got a feel that's pure late 60s all the way – long lines on the keyboard inspired by Indian music, performed by Riley with a stripped-down feel that's even more compelling than some of his earlier classics recorded by Columbia. And unlike other minimalists of Riley's generation, the actual performance here is filled with a surprising amount of humanity – not just simple patterns of sound, but played with a real sense of Riley's presence at the organ. Titles include "Desert Of Ice", "Across The Lake Of The Ancient Word", "Anthem Of The Trinity", and "Celestial Valley". © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | |||||
