CD (Item 624969) Marlin/Clinck (Japan), 1977 — Condition: New Copy

A really great little record – an overlooked gem from the jazzier side of the TK Records universe in the 70s – put together with loads of cool changes and warm instrumental elements! William Eaton's vocals are wonderful – kind of crackly and personal, and a great complement to the tight jazzy instrumentation of the record – produced by Ralph MacDonald, who works with Eaton to give the record some of the cool complicated elements of his own records of the time. There's loads of great musicians on the date – saxes from Michael Brecker and Tom Scott, trumpet from Randy Brecker, and guitar from Eric Gale – and the set's also got some guest vocal moments, these cool kind of "characters" that appear in songs – provided by Gwen Guthrie, Yolanda McCullough, Zachary Sanders, Vivian Cherry, and others. Titles include "Conjure Woman", "Just Can't Turn Down", "Brand New Lover", "Time & Love", and "Struggle Buggy".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
