One of the best Andre Williams albums we've heard in years – thanks to help from the legendary Dennis Coffey! Dennis plays guitar in the small combo that backs Andre up – and the group has a gritty, laidback feeling that's a welcome change from some of the other recent Williams revival records – which sometimes try a bit too hard to sound funky, then fall far from the mark. It's almost as if someone decided to go back to the most stripped-down modes of Andre's R&B years, instead of trying to replicate the harder funk of the 60s – a good choice to our ears!
