Sublime vocal work from Stan Kenton – some of his best experiments with voice! Kenton With Voices is from 1957 – and features a quartet called The Modern Men, singing in styles that are very much in the mode of classic Four Freshmen work with Pete Rugolo, plus some occasional solo leads by Ann Richards, hitting an icy June Christy-esque mode. The whole thing's great – really dark and moody, with tracks that include "Eager Beaver", "After You", "Walk Softly", "All About Ronnie", "Interlude", and "Dancing In The Dark". (Original turquoise label pressing. Cover has a half split top seam and remnants of a price sticker.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
