For Your Hully Gully Party/You Can't Sit Down
CD (Item 599168) Cameo/Collectors Choice, Early 60s — Condition: New Copy
Back to back classics from The Dovells – easily one of the grooviest acts on the Philly scene of the early 60s! For Your Hully Gully Party is a wonderfully upbeat record – filled with leaping little numbers that perfectly sum up The Dovell's unique blend of doo wop and rock and roll – a surprisingly soulful style at times, thanks to lots of herky jerky rhythms at the bottom! Unlike other albums of this nature, which were usually all filler, nearly every tune is a great groover – and titles include "Time For The Madison", "Hully Gully Baby", "Kissin In The Kitchen", "Cheat", "Do The New Continental", and "Stop Look & Listen". You Can't Sit Down is a killer from one of the most grooving acts on the Cameo/Parkway label! There's really something special to The Dovells at this point in their career – and a record like this shows why the group were crucial to the development of upbeat soul in the 60s – even though they might initially come across with the look of a more conventional pop act. Loads of great Philly stormers – including "Baby Workout", "Hey Beautiful", "You Can't Sit Down", "Wildwood Days", "Summer Job", "36 22 36", and "Miss Daisy De Lite". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
